Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's convenient remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle as well as start the motor and even locate it using an app for smartphones.

If you own a brand new Volvo model that we have in our dealership, you might be unfamiliar with some of its key fob hidden features. You can use the manual lock/unlock feature if your key fob battery fails.

To unlock the manual lock or unlock button hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards. Find the black button close to the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover which conceals the key blade that is manual. The cover can be flipped counterclockwise by using a flathead or coin.

If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it could be time to replace its battery.

If your car is equipped with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also use the key fob to activate this feature. The car will heat or cool at the same temperature it was set to when it was parked and run for up 15 minutes.

Take off the back cover of the key fob using your fingernail. A button is located under the cover at an angle that is near the body's edge. You can remove it by sliding it downwards and to the right.
